Privacy Tests

This page contains useful tips regarding how to protect your online privacy. In our days using the Internet is a current activity for most of us. That is why is important to know how to protect the private data (like IP address, geographical location, email address and so on) from web sites who are trying to collect it from us. In most of the cases web sites try to collect this information without your permission that is why knowing some tips – about how to prevent it – is useful.

First thing: cookies

Most of the web sites track our online activities and browser behavior by using cookies. The stealth option is to totally block cookies and in this way no information about you will be tracked. The bad thing is that if cookies are blocked most of the web sites will not work properly. The solution is to: Turn on cookie notices in your Web browser, and/or use cookie management software. In this way you will see which cookies are set and you can delete them. As a software product that we can recommend you is Real Time Cleaner (http://www.amplusnet.com/products/realtimecleaner/overview.htm) from Amplusnet or the free version IEASY Cleaner http://www.amplusnet.com/products/ieasycleaner/overview.htm .

Keep your email address clean

Do not use the same email address for business purposes, private purposes and to fill forms it over the Internet. If you want to keep things simple create a new email address like do-not-spam-me at some provider, and use it to fill forms over the Internet. In this way you will receive spam and possible dangerous emails like phishing on that email address. Do not reply to spammers, for any reason. If you do – you will probably receive 10 times more spam.

Don't reveal personal details on every web site

That is really dangerous. Do not fill your real information on any web site because there is a possible risk to receive spam by email, mail and so on. This is the lowest risk. We recommend filling your private data only on SSL web site with a valid security certificate. Beware sites that offer some sort of
reward or prize in exchange for your contact information or other personal details – they will sell the data collected from you for sure.

Remember that you decide what information about yourself to reveal, when, why, and to whom.

It is a FACT that web sites track your IP address. It is a FACT that your ISP track your browser behavior. It is up to you to decide if you want to share all these data with them. We recommend using a Hide-IP-Product in order to keep your browsing secure. We do not recommend using hide-ip products all the time (that is not very practical) but we recommend using them for the sensitive browsing (web sites that you like BUT do not want to share with others). We suggest to Protect yourself – use Anonymity Gateway (Hide IP, browse the web anonymously, protect your online privacy).
